Before the Beginning is an original gouache Pop Art portrait by artist Brett Hodges of Quiet Corner Art Studio in Omaha, Nebraska.

This painting is the third portrait in my Brides in Red collection, a series of non-traditional bridal portraits reimagined through my minimalist gouache Pop Art style. With this piece, I wanted to capture the quiet moment before everything changes, when a bride is still with herself before stepping into a new beginning.

The title, Before the Beginning, speaks to that private pause. There is confidence in the pose, but also reflection, softness, and presence. I wanted this portrait to feel modern, elegant, and emotionally grounded while continuing my use of red as a symbol of independence, strength, beauty, and self-possession.
