This original painting is a standout piece from my Pop Art Icons collection. Titled RBG, the artwork captures the intellect, resilience, and iconic presence of the legendary Supreme Court Justice. I painted her portrait using a high-contrast black and white silhouette that highlights her signature glasses and intricate lace dissent collar. This is accented by a vibrant splash of red on her lips and floral garment. She is set against a bold, repeating botanical and sunburst background pattern that frames her with strength and dignity.

I painted this piece in my Omaha studio using rich Winsor & Newton gouache on cotton paper. My goal was to create a graphic statement that feels both nostalgic and undeniably powerful.

One of the most unique aspects of this artwork is the archival construction. I mount the cotton paper onto an acid-free mat board using pH Neutral adhesive to ensure the artwork is stabilized and reinforced. Additionally, I have sealed the surface with Dorland’s Wax, a technique that protects the painting and completely eliminates the need for glass. This allows you to enjoy a glare-free, tactile view of the art without any reflections getting in the way. It arrives framed in a textured black frame that complements the composition, making it ready to hang the moment it arrives at your door.
