Modern Traditions | The Día de los Muertos Collection
I have always been captivated by the beauty and symbolism of Día de los Muertos. This collection is my modern interpretation of those traditions. I blend the iconic imagery of La Catrina and sugar skulls with a minimalist pop art aesthetic. Each piece features a stark black and white palette accented by vibrant red roses. This contrast symbolizes the balance between life and memory.
I create these original works in my Omaha studio using professional archival gouache on 100% cotton paper. Uniquely, I finish every painting with a protective wax coating instead of glass. This allows you to experience the rich texture of the paper without glare. It creates an intimate connection between the viewer and the art.
